SQL SPY 6.5 Released

Postby rvallee » Mon Nov 30, 2009 11:48 am

SQL SPY 6.5 has been released!

Many performance fixes and enhancements have taken place. We encourage all users to upgrade to this version.

Note: The User Connection feature has had the bulk of the fixes. With help from users, especially Stuart, we believe that most of the issues have been resolved. The only exception is closing the feature with a large row count (5000 connections or more), may still raise an exception. If anyone experiences this issue please let us know as we are having a hard time reproducing the error.

Rob

I like to compare the result from SQLSPY and those from MS SQL built-in reports specially regarding resource distribution. Right now, I am not quite sure how to relate them together :? and manage the necessary maintenance on DB Servers based on the results.

Thanks

Nahid,
I understand what you are asking, but it is a lot to cover with a simple post.
I suggest you start here with this link, this explains the features of SQL SPY: http://www.ispysql.com/forumbridge/inde ... =viewforum

Once you read through the list, please let me know so we can go into detail about each feature and what you should be looking for with your own results. Every SQL Server is slightly different and trying to give broad answers never works. If you feel more comfortable emailing me, that is fine (rvallee@ispysql.com) or we can continue this post. I will reply as fast as possible.

We will be happy to help!

Hi guys.
I have a new PC. I just installed SQL SPY. Where can I find Database Sizes? Only Monitoring is available. What else do I have to download?

thanx

Just seen this:

SQL SPY 6 is all live monitoring. A total of 17 distinct features that concentrate on live monitoring. There are no static reports as in version 5x

Rob

Such a pity..
I could find no other tool giving me these reports. They are so essential to me.
Even Quest don't give you this information in such an easy, consolidated and clear way (especially about DB and table sizes).
If this is the trend SQL SPY will go ahead with, I'm really sorry to say it, but I'm afraid it's gonna be another tool in the waste basket for me.

Cheers
